Exciting news: Vera Bradley is going to bring back the Pleated Tote and Villager for a limited release this winter! They have listened to all of us rave about these styles and say how much we miss them, so on November 7 they will be a part of the winter launch.
They are going to be available in Canterberry Magenta, Venetian Paisley, Heather, Plum Crazy and Midnight Blues! Each will retail for $68. This will be for a limited time, so if you want one, I wouldn't wait long to pick one up!  I think that I need one in Venetian Paisley and Plum Crazy.

Or what other style do you miss?

Selling on Ebay - Plum Crazy Tote & Pink Elephant Pleated Tote

I decided to sell a couple of bags.  Sunday I mentioned the totes that I picked up at the Spring 2013 preview, well three of them got purchased at the 'Buy it now' price, but the fourth (Plum Crazy) had enough action bidding that the 'Buy it now' price was dropped by ebay.  The auction ends Aug 25, 201220:54:32 PDT.  Check out the auction by clicking here

Up next is a Pink Elephant Pleated Tote that I purchased and never used.  These are really hard to find because Vera Bradley only made them for a short time.  This is a retired color and style.  Pink Elephant is one of the Vera Bradley Breast Cancer Foundation colors.  I started the bidding out at 99 cents! You can click here to check out the auction.  Auction ends Aug 27, 201218:33:07 PDT.

If you have any questions about ebay, just let me know!

Super Bowl 2012!

I switched to my Twirly Bird Navy Pleated Tote last week because I haven't been using any of printed bags.  It was time to start using them again.  I took my pleated tote with me, I think it looks pretty good with my outfit.  Plus I had navy blue nail polish :)

I met up with a group of friends at a bar that another friend is a manager at.  They had a chili cook off and there were 7 different chili's to try...so good!  Plus my friend Katie made these wonderful cheesy potatoes that I put the chili over.

Katie and I are riding in a Bike MS event this summer and we sold Super Bowl squares as a fundraiser.  We made $250 each, so I am a quarter of the way to my goal to raising $1,000!

I hope you all enjoyed the Super Bowl!

Did you have a Vera Bradley bag with you for the Super Bowl?

My latest Vera Bradley purchases!

My first Large Duffel! I have never purchased a Large Duffel because I already owned an XL Duffel and figured whatever I would put in a Large I could just carry in an XL, but when they were on sale for $32, I just had to pick one up! I decided on Versailles, because I dont have anything in that color yet and I really love the blues in it.  One of the neat things about the one that they sent me is that it has almost the same exact pattern placement on each side! I dont think that I have ever seen a large print bag with the same print on each side.  You can see what I mean in the photos below.  I also purchased a Pleated Tote in Pink Elephants! I only have a Coin Purse and Medium Bow Cosmetic in that print.

Here is the top of my duffel!

Here is one side

And here is the other! The prints is only a few inches off from the other side.

Vera Bradley Shipping Boxes

My Vera Bradley package just arrived! I ordered a Large Duffel in Versailles and a Pleated Tote in Pink Elephants last week when Versailles was on sale for 60% off! I was so excited that they arrived today, but when I went downstairs to pick up my box I was not impressed with how the box held up in transit.  Some of my friends have had their boxes fall apart in transit, but haven't had too many problems because the last couple of orders came in small boxes.  These big boxes seem more flimsy.  I think that Vera Bradley needs to purchase better shipping boxes and use a little more tape!

This end of the box wasnt taped and since it wasnt taped the box ripped at the corner.  Could have used a little more tape!

This corner got pretty bumped up, but at least it didnt open up.

This corner didnt hold up as well, YIKES!

Apparently someone, either at the front desk of my building or maybe at the post office tried to tape this corner shut for me...thanks for trying!

You cant really tell in this photo, but the top of the box was all bent it, you can kind of tell by the way the light reflects on the purple.  And you can see the corners are pretty banged up.  At least what was inside was fine, but if it had to travel any further I dont know if the one side of the box would have held up (at the top of the photo).  All of my bags could have just slipped out.  But they didnt and now I am the proud owner of a new Large Duffel and Pleated Tote.

Come on Vera Bradley, help FedEx handle our bags with care!

Pleated Tote v Get Carried Away Tote

So one of my readers (Beverly) emailed in and asked about the difference between the Pleated Tote and the Get Carried Away Tote so that she could pick one to use for school. Luckily I have both, so instead of just replying to her, I thought that I would share it with all of you.

The GCA is filled with my work laptop, a clipboard, a bag of random stuff, a shirt, packs of gum and a few other random things. The PT is filled with my laptop, two magazines, water bottle, small cosmetic with my GPS in it, wristlet filled with random stuff, my sunglass case and Turn Lock Wallet.

I dont think that this picture does the size difference any justice. The GCA is much bigger than the PT. GCA dimensions are 18.25 x 15.5 x 7.5 and the PT dimensions are 14.75 x 14 x5.25.

Here is the side by side view so that you can see how wide and tall they are.
I decided to take a picture in the mirror so you could get a better idea of the size when you have them on your shoulder.

In the end I think that the Pleated Tote is a better choice depending on how much stuff you carry. The Get Carried Away might be too big. What bag do you use for school or work?

Vera Bradley Outlet - Leesburg, VA

Sunday I had some free time on my hands so I decided to head out to the Vera Bradley Outlet in Leesburg, VA. I had a coupon for $20 off a purchase of $65 or more, so that was some extra motivation to drive out there. My Garmin said that it would take about 40 minutes, but it took me about an hour. That is one thing about living in the DC area...it takes longer to get everywhere! In California I would always beat the time that google maps would tell me, but here I have to add time on to my trip.

It was totally worth it though! The store had 20% off all bags and totes! Bonus! I picked up some great stuff! I bought a Pleated Tote for my friend Amber as a thank you for driving across country with me! She knows this is coming because I called her to ask what color she wanted :) I really wanted another Hipster to wear around DC this summer when I go check stuff out, so I got one in a color that I think is perfect for summer - Hope Garden. I didnt have a bag in that color yet, so I was pretty happy. The next bag I got kind of surprised me, first because I dont really care for Sittin' in a Tree and second because I assumed that these were sold out - Boardwalk Handheld. It was a limited edition collection made with the Sittin' in a Tree print. The bag is a canvas and has the inside print printed on the outside. It has a nice leather handle and the bag has a sheen to it. I love it! Plus it was on clearance for $16.99 (org. $55). Then I walked past the Audrey bags and I had to pick up one for a special little someone! :) I also picked up two Pocket Papers. And somehow I forgot to take a picture of my Paprika Lanyard. I got it to wear to the Bike MS event we have coming up at work next month.

So let me just tell you what a great deal that I got at the outlet! I added up how much my stuff would have normally retailed for and it came to $245! Yikes. But I only paid $104! And that counts the tax that I paid! What an amazing deal, I love a good deal! So I saved 58% off of the retail price. Oh happy day!

I have to tell you the women were so friendly and helpful this time around! The first time they didnt seem that interested in me and Amber, but this time I was greeted when I walked in and when I asked where the Pleated Totes were the woman had another woman show me where they were. When my hands got full and I was trying to talk to my mom or Amber on the phone one of them swooped in with a shopping bag for me to load everything up in. Also I really wanted that Paprika lanyard and they helped me dig through the pile looking for one. When we couldnt find one someone found me one from the back. I had a great time shopping there...I just wish that it was closer! Although, I cant really complain about it being an hour away. Plus it is a really nice drive through the country roads.

Check out my pictures of my purchases...I forgot to take pictures at the store...oops!

Outlet!!! Woo Hoo!
All the new bags! Except my lanyard which I forgot to take out of the bag.
The Boardwalk Handheld! I love it!
The back of the bag has a zipper.
The inside is lined with the print that is normally on the outside.
My new Hipster! I picked this one because it had 3 big pink flowers on the front :)
Super Cute little Audrey bag!

Old Colors in New Styles!

Maybe you have already seen this on verabradley.com, but if not you might be interested in this. Vera Bradley has been making some of its newer style bags in colors that were previously thought of as retired. Maybe we were the only ones that considered them retired though. This is great news for some of you who love Mesa Red, Riviera, Botanica, Pinwheel Pink and Peacock! Click on the linked names to go to the VB website to check them out!

For example the Get Carried Away Tote, it is being made in Mesa Red, Riviera, Botanica, Pinwheel Pink and Peacock! Those colors were already retired (or on sale) when they started producing the Get Carried Away Tote. Those colors are also on sale for $66.

Another example is the newly restyled Hipster that is now in Mesa Red, Botanica, Riviera, Night Owl, Pinwheel Pink and Peacock! Those originally were made in the older style hipster. Those are on sale for $42.

Also check out the Lets Do Lunch, I believe the baby bag was restyled since these colors were retired (I could be wrong) and PLEATED TOTE!!!

If you see any other styles that werent created yet when these colors were out, please share in the comments.

I can't take credit for this discovery. Some of my Vera friends were talking about it and a couple Oh My Vera readers let me know as well. Thanks everyone!

Happy Shopping!

Match?

So I kind of lucked out today and my bags match...or maybe I should say coordinate. I use my Night Owl Miller as my gym bag, so it doesn't match my purse on most days. Today I am carrying my Twirly Birds Navy Pleated Tote, so they actually don't clash horribly! I don't worry about matching, but it is kind of nice when it works out. I also brought my Night Owl lunch bag...I forget what the old one is called, I think Out to Lunch.

And I think that my new bag should arrive tomorrow! It is being sent from the store, so I don't have a tracking number. It will be a fun surprise when it actually shows up. Plus I got a killer deal on ebay this week...more details once it arrives!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that you are all having a merry Christmas with your family and friends. We celebrated yesterday since my Mom is working today. We both got Vera Bradley bags! My parents got me a Pleated Tote in Twirly Birds Navy and I got my Mom a Bermuda Blue Vera. We also each got a Hope Garden notepad set. Thanks Dad for taking the picture!

We also got to call my sister in Ukraine today! That is the first time that I have gotten to talk to her since she left over 3 months ago. It was great to be able to talk to her.
