A Colorful Day - Happening or Not Happening in April 2013??

Update 1/17/13: A Colorful Day will not be happening in 2013.

At A Colorful Day in Orlando back in October Vera Bradley announced that the next A Colorful Day event would happen in April in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  They haven't announced a date yet though, which has caused a lot of people to inquire about when this event actually will happen.  There has been lots of speculation that it will happen around the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale (April 10-14).  By the way...tickets for the VBOS go on sale February 1.
I have had friends who have called Vera Bradley customer service to ask about the date and have been told the event is still on for April, but they don't have any other details yet.  Another called and was told we would know by February 1st.  But the most interesting and troublesome information came from an OhMyVera reader who emailed Inside Stitch and got this reply:
Hi ---------,
To keep things fresh and exciting, we are working to develop new experiences for you. While we will not host a Colorful Day event in 2013, we encourage you to experience Vera Bradley though our annual Outlet Sale and our frequent in-store events. Make sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for the most up-to-the-minute information and special announcements!
Thank you,
The Inside Stitch team

Really???  You aren't going to host an event you told a room full of women you going to have in April?  Why get everyone's hopes up?  I have friends who travel from all over to attend EVERY A Colorful Day experience.  Surely this must be some sort of mix up.
So is it happening or not happening?  I guess we will just have to keep waiting to find out.

  1. This is sad, but compare Orlando, Chicago, Las Vegas to Fort Wayne. Not quite the same town experience.

  2. I agree that it sucks that they would TELL people it's happening, and then change their mind, but I have to say that I'd appreciate them doing something else to spread the fun and joy (and savings) to more people than just those that can attend their events. I can't help but hope they've got something else up their sleeves that would benefit more people than just those who can afford to go to A Colorful Day or the Outlet Sale. There are a lot of Vera fans that just don't have the ability to do that, and while I'd be sad if they did away with such events entirely, I'd definitely like to see a different, more inclusive event. If it doesn't work out, they can always fall back to the usual plan next year :) :) I guess we'll just have to wait and keep open minds!

    1. That is a great point Amber. I think that we all appreciate when they do something that reaches more people, like when they drove across country last year with their flower stand. I havent been able to go to A Colorful Day or the outlet sale, but it was neat when that came to town. Hopefully they have other creative ideas like that.

  3. As someone who plans large scale events at a corporate level, sometimes things fall through. There may have been something with the event space or other contract or a supplier. While it's frustrating, we just have to be patient and know they will inform us in due time.

  4. Oooo, please host A Colorful Day in the PA/NJ/MD/NY area!! I'd def go then! I was hoping they'd have A Colorful Day during the outlet sale week, so I could attend both events!

  5. I will be disappointed if they don't do the Colorful Day in Fort Wayne. It was the only way I could go to one without having to travel. I was really looking forward to finally being able to attend. I hope if it doesn't happen, they have something else just as great planned. I'm still looking forward to the outlet sale!

  6. That's totally uncool
I was really looking forward to it
If they aren't having it they shouldn't have advertised it

    1. Well we still dont know if they arent having it. Most people have heard that it will be happening, so I am leaning that way. But the email from Inside Stitch was contradictory to everything else they have said. Hopefully they will clear it up soon.

  7. Folks, start buying their stock! I think they're trying to trim costs and I suspect that A Colorful Day is expensive for them. It seems like attendees get a LOT more back in product than the price they pay!

  8. I have been planning since last year to go to the outlet sale and I cannot wait. I had not heard about the colorful day event so I am not disappointed. I am sorry for the ones that are however.
I cannot wait to meet anyone that is going to the outlet sale. Allison are you going? Who is going and wants to meet up?

    1. I am not going. It seems no matter what job I have, I always have had something going on the weekend of the outlet sale. Otherwise I would totally be there!

    2. Will it be happening anywhere else during the year or are ALL of them canceled?
