My Favorite Wallet - Vera Bradley Turn Lock Wallet

I used to have this faux crocodile teal color wallet...I used it for a long time even when I fell in love with Vera Bradley bags.  Back then Vera Bradley didnt make a wallet big enough for me, the biggest one was a Zip Around Wallet and I wanted more space.  My mom bought a Turn Lock Wallet in Microfiber and I was hoping that they would add it to the Signature Collection because it was the perfect size.  Well, it happened!  They added it to the Signature Collection, but my old wallet still had some life in it and I love a good deal so I decided that I could wait until I could get one on sale.

On March 22, 2010 about a month after I started writing OhMyVera my new wallet arrived!  Click here to see that post.  Part of me though about waiting until March to do a 2 year update once I figured out that I bought it in March...but now is as good of a time as any.

This wallet is the only wallet that I have used over the last two year.  On occasion I will use a small wallet for a night out when I use a small bag.  Other than that, this is what a wallet looks like after daily use for almost 2 years! In a couple of the photos it looks a little faded, but it is just the bright sun coming through the window.
This is the front of my wallet.

Worn out corner...at least there are two layers of material!

Another worn out corner...this one doesnt look as good.

Worn out on the other side, but this spot has two layers of fabric as well...this is one of the faded looking photos...not really that faded, still quite bright.

See still bright :)  Wear on the corner and paint coming off the zipper.

But look at all this space! All those cards, plus there is a larger slot behind the top and bottom part for more cards or whatever you would want to stick in there.

This is the zipper side!  I have my LivingSocial deals, a calendar, lottery ticket and cash.  I should have taken the photo the other direction...there are 6 more card slots on the cash side.

And the final photo is of the coin part on the back.

I just bought an Accordion Wallet from a friend in Happy Snails that I am going to try out.  I am just not quite ready to retire my Turn Lock Wallet though...when I switch it over, I will definitely post photos!

  1. I agree this is the BEST wallet! I have it in twirly birds pink and as soon as Island Bloom goes on sale, I'm buying it :D Although I do have to say I am intrigued by the new Strap Wallet and may take a closer look at that one next time I'm in Vera. Oh and I love love love your Cupcakes Green one. I didn't discover Vera until that pattern was gone :(

  2. I have a turn lock in sittin in a tree. Love it, but after a while learned that it was a little more wallet than I need. Do you know about the lanyard trick. I need to share it in case you don't. Hopefully you can picture it off of my description, but let me know if you want a pic and I can get one to you. If you run a lanyard through the spine you can turn your Turn Lock wallet into a wristlet. The keychain part stops it from going through. You can even clip the ends together and it's a little purse! Learned that at my local VB store. So fun!

ps I think you will like the accordion.

    1. Thanks Liz! One of my friends said someone at a store showed her that trick too! You can also get the chain lanyard and clip it to each end of the wristlet to make a cute mini chain purse.

  3. I love the Turn Lock Wallet. I grabbed one in Paprika at the Outlet Sale a couple year ago on a whim. I was using a Yellow Bird Zip Around Wallet that I liked. I ended up using the Turn Lock Wallet on my wedding day because it was the only thing that held everything I wanted to carry. And it's been my daily wallet ever since. I'm thinking about getting a new one at this year's Outlet Sale.

  4. The turn lock wallet is my favorite, too-- you can put one of their checkbook covers in it, in the pocket section, and carry your checks, too. I love it!

  7. The Turn Lock was my favorite... until I met the Gallery wallet -- now that tops my list. I just bought an accordian to match my 100 Handbag I got for Christmas. I find the accordian very flimsy compared to our favorite Turn Lock or Gallery! (Amy)

  8. Love the new wallet. My newest purchase is the heart jewelry box that is a promo going on now. I bought 2 in rosey posey and I might give one away but for now I have to hoard both! Lol! Thanks for entering the cupcake goodies give-away. Are you going to LV for the VB show?

    1. Thanks for hosting that giveaway, it was a good one! I wont be able to go to LV. I work at the MS Society and we have our annual Walk MS event that day and I can't miss it. I hope to someday be able to go to one of their events. Hopefully they will have another one in the summer or fall.

  9. Vera bradley is super cute, but when it comes to wallets my fav is the Hobo International Lauren. They come in so many fun colors and last absolutely forever!

  10. I bought this wallet in Purple Punch (back when it was first released) and it has been my favorite wallet even after I didn't care for the pattern. I just recently (Christmas) switched to the Lauren clutch by Hobo International. I think for my wallet its best I just keep in monotone and its just as roomy as the Turn Lock Wallet.

  11. I have the "travelers" wallet that I love (because I travel so much)....has plenty of space for credit cards, cash, receipts, plane tickets, your passport, and change. Vera is great!
